The Elegant Gothic Lolita style first appeared in Japan in the 1990s, as a dark variant of the Lolita style. It has influenced a number of western designers.

Luella Bartley says that her clothes are “cute but always a little sick.” This collection was inspired by Britt Eklund in the horror film The Wicker Man and by the witch museum in Cornwall.
