  • About the craft: Durries are unique homespun rugs hand-woven with strong and thick yarns for everyday use. This Indian version of carpets can be found in the village of Salawas where it is called Panja Durrie. The rug has its own utility and charm. Traditionally Durrie was made of camel hair and sheep wool, but now they are made with wool and cotton. In old days durries were called ‘Jhat ka Ganda’ and were used on camel back and exported to the Middle Eastern Countries to douse fire in oil wells.
