Montreal muralist Annie Hamel was chosen for this project, her fifth with MU to this day.
Interesting fact, the wall where the mural is produced already had a 1980′s mural on it, although it was faded and poorly maintained. MU’s new mural pays tribute to it, reusing some of its elements (children and swings) while adding more colours, movements and vitality. The new mural also highlights Soeur Madeleine Gagnon’s legacy, a woman who worked for more than 25 years to combat loneliness and to reinforce human ties in the neighbourhood and who gave her name to the park where the mural can be found.
