Bespoke pair of men's two-toned Balmoral boots with a stacked leather heel. The boots have red leather uppers and black grained leather lowers with a plain toe-cap. They are decorated with metallic gold inserts surrounded with a punched pattern. The eyelets are pale blue. The boots each have a pull-on tab made from embroidered silk. The boots are unworn and still contain their original lasts. The soles are leather and contain red leather decoration marked with a diamond criss-cross pattern. These were most likely specially produced for a trade exhibition. Made by A. E. Marlow for the Saxonia brand in Northampton. Early 20th century.
