On March 27, 1921 the LA Philharmonic performed for the first time at Daisy Dell, the site that was to become the Hollywood Bowl. Because of the natural acoustic properties of the Dell, and a nascent desire to provide an affordable and accessible venue for the performance and reception of classical music, Symphonies Under the Stars was born, and a new summer home for the Orchestra was established.
