This Ebbing and Flowing Well near Sparrowpit in Derbyshire was an intermittent spring from which water would sometimes flow at a high rate, with the water rapidly ebbing away through natural drainage outlets. The process of flowing and draining would sometimes take only a few minutes. The spring still exists but no longer ebbs and flows as it used to.
