Echinocactus grusonii in the Cacti and Succulent Collection

The Golden Barrel Cactus, native to Mexico, was nearly wiped out with the creation of the Zimapam Dam in the 1990s, and today is critically endangered. By exhibitng at-risk plants, botanical gardens raise awareness and contribute to their conservation in the wild.
