The inscription on this photo did not specify if this was Ellen Kelly, Ned's mother, aged 58 at the time, or Ellen Kelly (King), her daughter, aged 17. Presumably it is Ellen Senior, as the woman in the image does not appear to be a teenager.
The mother of Ned Kelly, Ellen Quinn (b.1832), married again in 1874 having three children with her second husband George King. After George King's disappearance Ellen resumed the name of Kelly and their three children grew up as Kelly. Ellen (b. 1873) was the oldest of the three King children, she married Walter Knight and had five daughters.
