This exquisitely embroidered silk panel shows typical accouterment of a refined scholar, including a dragon-patterned blue-and-white porcelain vase holding a flowering peony, a brocade-covered box, a censer on a stand, an incense container, and two wrapped scrolls. Using decorative stitches, the embroiderer created extremely realistic surface textures and patterning details for the various objects depicted.
