Anticipating the shortfall of notes, emergency issues were introduced, in the denominations of 5, 10 & 100 rupees, prepared by De La Rue & Company Great Britain. The designs were similar to the 1 Pound note of Bank of England that circulated between 1948 and 1960.

The patterns of the notes were predominantly geometric. The colors were deep blue (Rs. 5), orange red (Rs. 10), & rich green (Rs. 100). To the right, on front of each note, is a crescent and star in an oval, while to the left the denomination written in Urdu numerals in a similar oval. The denomination is repeated in Urdu at the bottom right. On the front at the bottom with Urdu words for “Government of Pakistan” repeated in small text.
