Michael ‘Angelo’ Rooker (1743-1801) made book illustrations,
drawings and engravings and for many years he was a scene painter at the
Haymarket Theatre in London. In 1788 Rooker toured the country, including
Warwickshire, capturing views of natural features and romantic ruins. In this
view of the entrance to Kenilworth Castle, nature transforms the medieval remains.
