Officers shoulder knot (1872-1902). Gold braided cord woven in elaborate knot with an infantry button on near end and a buff flannel disk on shoulder side. The number 25 is embroidered in gold bullion on the disk and a Lt. Colonel’s leaf insignia is on either side of the number.
Between 1872 and 1902 the 25th Infantry regiment, a segregated Black command, served in military campaigns throughout the American west, and in the Spanish American War and the Philippine Insurrection.
