Erwin Neumayer and Christine Schelberger

Erwin Neumayer is an archeologist and ethnologist. Neumayer and his wife Christine Schelberger, who has co-authored several of his books describe their interest in Ravi Varma and his prints. Neumayer talks about how their interest was piqued back in 1970s and the journey that led him to chance upon the diary entries of Ravi Varma's brother C. Raja Raja Varma. They eventually published this book Raja Ravi Varma: Portrait of An Artist -- The Diary of C. Raja Raja Varma in 2000, which today is one of the best resources on the life and times of the master artist, especially during the late 1890s to the early 1900s.
