In this sculpture, suppressed memories of the artist surfaced. Kristek fled Czechoslowakia during its occupation in 1968. He saw what the communist regime did with his nation. The figures are binded almost as if they couldn’t breath. No move is allowed. The human figure that represents the conscience of the nation has curved backbone. Dispite of the fact, the evolution will bring sphere-shaped fruits. The sphere, here roughly cut, is a symbol of concentrated energy in Kristek’s oeuvre.
