Palazzo Madama

Palazzo Madama
Torino, Italy

The arrangement of the decoration, which gathers the design alongside the gem, uniformly dispersing smaller stylized motifs on the rest of the fabric's surface, is a stylistic characteristic of the First Empire. The shape itself is also reminiscent of the silhouettes of the second decade of the nineteenth century; a time in which the accessory returns to fashion in a smaller size and with a lighter decorative appearance, following a period of eclipse.
