A few months ago I wrote: “Because it is worth by the sensuality, the forms, the aesthetic... Anyway, by the art! Margarida Santos, because it is worth to confine the BEST! ". Soon after the re-reading of poetry in “eu amo tu”, transdisciplinary work of the sculptor Margarida Santos where sculpture, drawing, painting and poetry coexist lovingly in fullness with their author, an artistic maturity that softens the viewer. I rediscover again Margarida Santos in her feminine multiplicity when reading a new piece that it’s like in his autobiography, “Fragmentos de uma biografia roída”, sculptural work with words and question marks of a barbarian intimacy, acutely and provocative, as only hands, skilled on the matter, produces: members of Life! Where the author tries to elevate the viewer to the sublime and charming Art and Be Space.

Margarida Santos was born in 1946. She obtained a degree in sculpture at E.S.B.A.P. in 1968. She received a Gulbenkian scholarship before and after the course. She was teacher between 1968 and 2006. Pedagogical guidance counselor of the General Directorate of Basic Education; Supervisor of visual education team in Telescola project; Author, presenter and collaborator of cultural programs of the press, radio and television; artistic director of Galeria da Praça. Author of public and private work in the area of sculpture: busts, portraits, reliefs, trophies, medals and monuments; radio programs and opinion articles, critical and chronic in press and broadcast media; critical texts for exhibition catalogs. Responsible for guiding courses for teachers, pedagogical and didactic movies, slideshows. Author and illustrator of poetry and graphic work. Author of monuments of great scale in Portugal and abroad. Participated in dozens of collective and solo exhibitions in Portugal and other countries. From 1968 to the present develop fruitful activity in the area of Literature and Plastic Arts - writes, draws, paints and sculpts above. Her house-atelier is located in Canelas, Gaia.
