This cartoon shows a couple dressed in the height of fashion. On the right is a man dressed in hessian boots, long trousers, a jean-de-brie coat, and a high starched cravat. He has his hair in a Brutus crop and is wearing a round hat. He is facing the woman on the left, and says:
"How I shall quiz the flashy Bankers Clerks - when I go back again to Tooley Street - they dress well enough to be sure but then they have not the manner of us at the West end of the Town."

On the left a woman in an empire-line dress, shawl, veil and slippers, admires the man through a quizzing glass. She replies:
"That's what I say of the Ladies, I don't find fault with their dress - but they want the stile of us Women of Fashion."
