The full title of this 1887 illustration is "Female suffrage in Kansas—fashionable ladies of Leavenworth soliciting votes at the polls, April 5th." In 1887, the state granted women the vote in municipal elections. After decades of organizing, Kansas women finally achieved full voting rights in 1912.
