The Ferrari F2002 was an incredibly successful racing design, winning 15 of the 17 races where the car was entered. Further cementing the F2002’s place in racing history was Michael Schumacher using the car to win his fifth and sixth Formula 1 Championship’s in 2002 and 2003.
Ferrari completely redesigned its Formula 1 car and the F2002 bears few similarities to the F2001. A new 051 engine and fused titanium gearbox was lighter and lower the center of gravity of the car. These improvements allowed engineers to also improve the car’s body, particularly the aerodynamic efficiency of the rear. Continued improvements led to a new F2003 to be introduced midway through the 2003 Formula 1 season.
This F2002, chassis 225, was the last F2002 Ferrari produced.
