Ferry on Sava at Mostec pri Dobovi

In recent centuries people crossed the river by boats or ferries which were numerous especially on the Sava and the Krka. Ferries were attached to a steel wire and pushed by the river current. The ferry as a unique vessel of this kind on the Sava is still active in Mostec pri Dobovi and testifies about rich ferry tradition on the Sava. It was first mentioned in 1885 and is part of Cultural Heritage Register but also illustrates unique living cultural heritage. It carries passengers, cyclists, bikers, whereas in the past its bigger brother used to carry besides holidaymakers and local passengers 30 cows from Mostec and some people, crops on handcarts and fodder waggons with horse yoke at the same time, on a daily basis.
