宮から桑名まで伊勢湾を行く七里（約二十八キロメートル）の海路は、七里の渡しとよばれ、伊勢参りや熱田参詣の旅人で賑わいました。大勢の乗客を乗せた二艘の舟が、桑名城周辺の船着き場に近づき帆を下しています。
