Poet and playwright Aristhopanes (450 - 385 BC) of Athena said: "The nature of two people is twice the nature of children". Hendra believed it. From there he then created a painting that tells the story of two kids fighting over a mask, the symbol of profane life, around the mother's arms, a symbol of the existence of the parents. A work full of symbols and deep philosophy, which lies behind his amusing and carefree depictions. "As much possible I have made my paintings not mere arrangements of elements of art, but also keeping and implying good character," said Hendra at one time. Hendra also created the similarly themed paintings, portraying his father as his character. (Agus Dermawan T.)
