Films turn up at the Archive in many different ways. Some arrive individually, others as part of large collections. They might be found in an old biscuit tin, or in rusty film cans, such as those pictured here.
Receiving the films is just the beginning of the archivist's journey of discovery. Depending on the content and condition, they may be re-canned, then catalogued, digitised, and made publicly accessible as part of the preservation process.
