Fire Station no. 13 was created in 1987 in conjunction with the construction of its namesake fire station on Front St. in East Toledo's Birmingham neighborhood. The original station stood from 1899 to 1985, and the current station remains in operation today, serving the surrounding area. Artist George Greenamyer was commissioned to create this sculpture, and integrated his design into the low brick perimeter wall on the site, playing with scale to depict a miniature crew of firefighters working to extinguish a burning building on the center column at the corner of Front and Consaul streets.
