The Citizens’ Committee at the Head of NSZZ “Solidarity” Lech Wałęsa became an informal organization ready to negotiate with the communist authorities. It was made up of numerous “Solidarity” members, dissidents and human rights activists. The first meeting was held at the Mercy of God Church in Żytnia Street in Warsaw.
