Ward's work on surface examination appear to be biomorphic abstraction of the fluidity of water, but upon deeper inspection, the pieces can be identified as deeper meditations on the nature of water and it's presence around us. This piece is a deliberate work of introspection in the aqueous nature of water. Her work calls to mind the work of the founders of abstract color field expressionism, such as Helen Frankenthaler, Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, and Ellsworth Kelly.
