This folding screen, the left half of the entire screen, depicts a battle between the Taira (Heishi) and the Minamoto (Genji) samurai clans during the end of the 12th century. This scene shows the Minamoto Clan's ground forces and the Taira Clan's fleet of ships. Nasu no Yoichi (Minamoto Clan) is aiming at a fan on the ship's bow with an arrow, and Minamoto no Yoshitsune (Minamoto Clan) is desperately trying to pick up a bow that fell into the ocean. It was painted in the first half of the 17th century.
