Opened almost two years to the day after Lincoln’s assassination, the Army Medical Museum attracted many visitors who wished to see its extensive collection of human body parts. Ironically, a portion of John Wilkes Booth’s spine ended up in the museum, mere feet above where he shot Lincoln. The museum remained in the building until 1887 when it moved because of space issues
