Fossile Sea-lilies

Contrary to its name, the sea lily Seirocrinus is not a plant but an animal that is related to the sea stars and feather stars. Today, sea lilies are primarily found in the deep sea; 185 million years ago, the animals attached themselves to driftwood, where they grew upside down and filtered their food from shallow sections of the ocean.
