Four Tiered Chest Decorated with Painted Ox Horn Sheet

This charming and lavishly-colored furniture called meoritjang, or head chest, is a chest for socks. It is a smaller version of an ordinary wardrobe, and is often placed where a woman would place her head when she goes to sleep at night. The front side of this boudoir furniture is decorated with a thin sheet of ox horn dyed in red, yellow, white, green and gold with various mineral pigments.
