Fragment of lintel carved in limestone

In the fragment of the lintel we see a snake surrounding a flower representing the planet Venus, the Plumed Serpent (Quetzalcóatl) is also associated with Venus, the morning star it is above the sun at dawn and at his death in the twilight. This represents the mythic journey of the god to create people, feed them with maize as sustenance and then surrenders them to earth to die; thus fulfilling the life cycle.
