This is typical of Eileen’s interest in details of simple, yet rustic and personable, old doorways and other intriguing facades. Her painterly handling of the wood panels and hardware door latches injects life, individuality, and nostalgia into a basically still and lifeless subject. “The texture fascinated me,” Eileen said. “The contrast of the wood grain, the door handles and the strong verticals kept going over in my mind. It is quiet and peaceful. I had to paint it. It pleases me.”
