Fearing the lack of live theatre at Ford’s Theatre would turn the building into a monument to John Wilkes Booth’s crime and not Lincoln’s legacy, Frankie Childers Hewitt used her political and media connections to help found the non-profit Ford’s Theatre Society. Today, the Society produces live theatrical productions throughout the year.
