Frederic Remington (1861–1909) was an American artist renowned for his vivid depictions of the American West through painting, illustration, and sculpture. Trained briefly at Yale and the Art Students League of New York, he found his true calling in capturing cowboys, soldiers, and Native Americans in moments of action and adventure. His work for magazines like Harper’s Weekly helped shape popular images of the frontier, while his later bronze sculptures, beginning with The Broncho Buster (1895), showcased his ability to bring dynamic Western scenes into three dimensions. Widely collected and celebrated in his lifetime, Remington remains one of the most influential interpreters of Western art and culture.
