Decoration of the Order of Commander of the Legion of Honor made by Arthus-Bertrand. Medal consists of a five-point, white enamel star, superimposed on green laurel leaves on the right side and green oak leaves on the left side of the star, suspended from a wreath of green oak leaves and green laurel leaves, to which is attached a red, silk grosgrain ribbon. One side of the medal in inscribed in the center, "HONNEUR ET PATRIE" with two flags of France. On the other side is inscribed, "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE 1870." Presented (awarded) to Eleanor Roosevelt on April 6, 1951, by the President of the French Republic, Francois Vincent Auriole. FDR Library Museum Collection, MO 1951.116.12.
