There are only four survived frescos of Queen Tamar of Georgia. In Vardzia, Betania, Kintsvisi and Bertubani. This exact mural depiction is from Vardzia monastery and it is exceptional because of the following reasons: the disgrace from crown is going down straight on shoulders and instead of long curly hair we see short hair which overlaps Queen’s cheeks… These points indicate that the Queen is depicted before her marriage i.e. before 1185.
