From Finnmark

A Sami man in a snowy landscape has lassoed a reindeer and is dragging it towards him. A woman and a child stand behind him, next to a Sami sledge. Two dogs look at the man. Sami tents and a herd of reindeer in the background.

Peters travelled in Finnmark between 1883 and 1884. He has painted several paintings with motifs of Sami people and painted many after he returned home, based on sketches drawn on his journey to the north. This painting was finished in 1892, so we know for sure that it was the case with this painting.
