While growing up, Farming was a major occupation of families in Chinedu Ogakwu's town in South-Eastern Nigeria. The entire family was involved fully in this subsistence type of farming. After the crops (mostly yam) have been planted, women from time to time, go back to remove weeds. On their way back, From The Farm, just as the men do not come home empty-handed, the women pick vegetables or fruits either for the household or to be sold on the next market day. The cycle continues until harvest time. These nostalgic moments probe him provoke him to paint more. Chinedu Ogakwu is a southeastern Nigerian visual artist from a creative family of six. He studied Painting at the prestigious Enugu Art School Institute of Management and Technology where he obtained an HND in Art (Painting). He is presently a full-time studio artist whose work explores the dynamics of both his cultural heritage and his life as an African/international artist. He is known for his peculiar raised texture and mixed media rendition. His work often engages impulsive combinations of forms, color, scale, and perspective, calling into question how the viewer processes visual information.
