During early 60's, it was decided by the authorities to shift the museum from existing Dewan Deodi to a new place. Accordingly, in 1968, a new building has come up. The building's foundation stone was laid by the then prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1963 and inaugurated by Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then President of India in 1968.
