Black and white day dress in printed grosgrain by Marshall and Snelgrove, Harrogate, 1950-54. The dress has half-length sleeves with a gather at the elbow, a fitted waist (not boned), lightly gathered crossover bust, and pleated skirt. The deep multi-layered pleats of the front of the skirt conceal two large pockets. The dress has internal waist tape which fastens with a hook and eye, a centre back zip, and a false opening at the centre front with decorative buttons. The third button from the top is missing. The buttons are black plastic. The skirt is faced on the inside of the waist with off-white muslin which has not been hemmed.
