Sedan-chair with a simple and rigid structure and with a rich pictorial decoration imitating lacquer and consisting of natural landscapes in which arcuate bridges, pagodas, exotic birds and costumed characters are depicted. The sedan-chair is a Western imistation of samples from China and Japan related to an European passion for Chinese-inspired decorative motifs that reached its climax during the 18th century.
