“These larvae are half loopers, and when at rest, assume fantastic forms, generally supporting themselves by their fro-legs; and when touched instantly fall to the ground. They are cylindrical, and not flat underneath, and from their gaudy appearance, and dissimilarity to the plant on which they subsist, are easily discernable.” Description from an unpublished manuscript for AW Scott, ’Australian Lepidoptera and their Transformations’ (1864-1898).
