Fruits Fruits

The installation Fruits is consistent with Kamil Kukla's oeuvre in general, in which the artist draws from the world of imagination and passing fascinations. The work was created with the exhibition Fruits and Maws in Bunkier Sztuki in mind. Abstract structures of biomorphic shape annex the space in which they are exhibited. The artist's aim was to evoke conflicting emotions in the viewer. Pastel-coloured froms are simultaneously appetizing (as suggested by the title) and repulsive. Kamil Kukla, as he himself declares, feeds on the intimate, impossible to embody, artificial, brought into fictional existence for the sole purpose of “getting a buzz”.

Kamil Kukla (b. 1989) pursues painting, graphic art, sculpture and experimental music. Graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He combines many opposing styles, such as abstract and figuration, expression and harmony, form and anti-form in a surprising way. The important element of his visual constructions is the factor of formation and disintegration, processual composing in time and space. The compositions bring to mind surrealistic works by Erna Rosenstein, Jerzy Kujawski and Alfred Lenica.
