Čiurlionis seeks to achieve the musical resonance of the painting with very realistic elements such as fir trees, hills, and small flowers, resulting in the first impression of a very subtle and gentle landscape. Fugue is a musical piece in which the main theme is being imitated, almost followed and repeated and we can sense this in the painting as well - the melody is always being imitated, explored, repeated until it reaches the main line where all of the explorations form one main melody.
