Game of checkers

The angulated composition of the figures that are developed around the ellipse of the top of the table defines an intimist space. The perspective of the scene is given from a relatively high plane, offering an oblique in depth view in relation to the plane with a certain constructive tension. Thus, the silhouettes of the heads executed in broken straight lines or the geometric abstraction of the background and floor are counterpoised by a naturalist situation, transmitted by the table's shadow over the woman's thighs or that of the collar of her dress, both created with natural light.
