Originally dedicated in 1887, this sculpture is the oldest in Toledo's public art collection, and was created to memorialize the life of Civil War General and Toledo Police Chief James Steedman shortly after his death. It was originally located at St. Clair and Summit in downtown Toledo, and moved to Riverside Park (now Jamie Farr Park) in 1920. The Arts Commission led significant repairs to the base of the sculpture in 2015.
