Genowefa Marczewska with her six-year-old son Andrzej. Both had been sent to Auschwitz from the Pruszków transit camp on 12 August 1944, during the Warsaw Uprising. In Auschwitz the mother was registered as prisoner number 83397 and her son as prisoner number 192850. They left the camp shortly after liberation and reached Kraków. The photograph was taken before their deportation to Auschwitz. Source: APMA-B
