George Housman Thomas - Portrait of Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria was the exact contemporary of the 3rd Earl of Bradford. He served her as Vice Chamberlain of the Household, Lord Chamberlain, and also as Master of the Horse on two occasions. This proximity to the Court no doubt made Lord Bradford conscious of contemporary taste, with the result that Weston Park's gardens were transformed during his ownership.
