Gladys Saunders and Len Waters

Gladys Saunders and Leonard (Len) Waters married after a whirlwind courtship of two weeks. Their marriage spanned 46 years and produced six children.

Gladys was a Women’s National Emergency League driver for the United States Army in Townsville and Len came to be recognised and celebrated as the only Aboriginal fighter pilot in World War Two.
