The first ever trophy won by Celtic Football Club in 1889, a year after its official foundation. The competition involved a number of Glasgow sides, including Clyde FC and several clubs which are now defunct, including Cowlairs FC - one of the Scottish league's founder members - and another team from Springburn, Northern FC. Cowlairs recorded the most number of cup wins (five) before the competition was scrapped in 1895.
